“FROM TEETHING TO TITLE”

MARIN RETRIEVER CLUB IS HONORED TO HOST A SEMINAR FEATURING DON REMIEN

Don has been involved with the training of retrievers for more than 40 years. In 1981, after 9 years and 2 Field Champions, Don established “Rising Sun Retrievers” in Montana where he still lives.

Since Don began his venture, he has been connected with the making of over 100 Field Champions; 3 National Amateur Champions; 1 National Champion; 36 National finalists; 12 double header winners; numerous dogs on the derby list (including several in the top 10!) and literally hundreds of world class gun dogs.

Don trained Ebonstar Lean Mac through his first National win and Maxx’s Surprise for the first two years of his life. He owned and then sold FCAFC Dust Devils Shoot the Moon, 4 time high point open dog with 400 + points!

Don is now fully retired but still active in a non-competitive way just having fun with his three personal dogs. This seminar will cover basics through advanced work, with an emphasis on training the handler. Whether you are a brand new beginner looking for direction or a seasoned participant running hunt tests and or field trials, we think there’ll be something for everyone. Saturday will start with classroom lecture at 9 am through the morning. After lunch we’ll move to the field. Don plans on covering young dogs; handling; different “concepts” in setups; corrections and judging.

Don has generously provided the club with a limited number of his training manuals that the Club will have at the seminar for purchase.

The date is February 24/25 at the CRTA Denverton Road property. Depending on the weather, the first few hours of lecture will be at another location.

Cost for handler teams (very limited) ($200 for both days) and auditing ($50 total both days). All participants can register and pay the auditing fee ($50).  Teams picked will be determined by the level Don needs for his demonstrations. The emphasis during the demonstrations will be on coaching and training the handler along with the dog. Those selected to participate with their dog will be contacted individually and will be required to pay the additional $150.00
