The Marin Retriever Club was established in 1974 by a cross-section of retriever owners who felt there was a need for a multi-purpose Retriever Club. The club objectives are to promote the training of purebred retrievers; to conduct field training sessions for the training of retriever breeds and their handlers; to encourage the training and development of judges; to encourage and cooperate with individuals and other groups with similar purposes; to hold and support Hunting Retriever Tests; exhibitions and matches under the rules and regulations of the American Kennel Club; and to promote cooperation and good sportsmanship among its members in the training and exhibition of retriever breeds. Our members have retrievers representing different levels of Hunting, Field, Obedience, Agility and Show Competition. We currently hold at least two licensed Hunt tests annually, and attempt to hold monthly training sessions and activities.
The Retriever breeds are the Chesapeake Retriever; Curly Coated Retriever; Flat Coat Retriever; Golden Retriever; Labrador Retriever; Irish Water Spaniel, the Standard Poodle, the miniature poodle, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, American Water Spaniels, Airdale Terriers, Barbet, Boykin Spaniels, Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, Spinone Italiano, German Wirehaired Pointers, Small Munsterlander, German Shorthaired Pointers, Weimeraners, Vizlas, including Wirehaired Vizslas, English Springer Spaniels, and Drentsche Patrijshond (Drent) are all allowed to run and participate in AKC Licensed Hunt Tests! We welcome all these versatile breeds!
In September 2022, MRC received its 501(c)3 not for profit status. Thanks to very generous donations by anonymous donors the Club will be well funded for some time into the future. Tax deductible donations help us fund Seminars and Training programs for the entire Retriever Community.
Thank you for your generosity.
