Marin Retriever Club and NorCal Golden Retriever Club hosting judges seminar!
MRC has joined forces with Nor Cal to host a Judges Seminar on May 19-21, 2023. The basic course is a prerequisite to anyone interested in becoming an AKC judge for Hunt Test field events. On Friday May 19th, the 8 hour class will be held at a meeting room at the KROC Center in Suisun City. It will be taught by one of the AKC representatives.
On Saturday, May 20th, the advanced class starts up also with 8 hours of classroom discussion at the KROC center, and a review of the AKC rulebook. The class then rolls over to Sunday May 21st, and moves to the field where different setups and situations are discussed and worked through. All students will be involved in setting up tests and judging and critiquing.
Lunches will be provided all 3 days
Taking these courses fulfills the requirement of coursework to become an AKC judge. Following these classes, students still will need to apprentice under experienced judges at a licensed Hunt test, before their own first judging assignment.
These courses are open to the public. Some participants will want to attend either or both classes just to learn what is being taught to the judges so they can become a more knowledgeable handler. Both classes can be signed up for at www.entryexpress.net, under seminars.
