JUNE TRAINING DAY SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 15TH - LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO COORDINATE -
Contact Laura if you're willing!
Please plan on joining us at our first training day of the year! This is open to all MRC members only. We will sign in at the kiosk as you enter the grounds, then drive straight down the gravel road to the T7 training area. We will be there all day, (weather permitting!) Let's meet about 8:30 for setup.
Everyone helps either setup or cleanup please! If you might have to leave early, come early and help setup!
We will have a general membership meeting during the lunch break. We'll talk about our upcoming test and our commitment to the Master Amateur and what that entails.
This is a land area, but it might have a stream running through it this time of year. (We'll break up into groups and do drills and throw some marks to get the dogs focused on marking).
Please bring two defrosted birds for every dog you run, (max 3 dogs per family please). RSVP to Laura at email@example.com. Let me know how many dogs and what level and anything in particular you'd like to work on. I'll bet our merchandise might be there and available - so if you're thinking of a new hat or jacket - this is the place to take a look!
DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC OUR SPRING HUNT TEST IS CANCELED!
Due to the current situation and with the utmost concern for safety, the Board of Directors has decided to CANCEL our Spring Hunt Test. We hope you understand our concerns and will be available in the fall for our fall trial. Please don't hesitate to email us with any questions, and check back here for updates! Please be patient, it takes about 3 days for the refunds to be posted back into your accounts.
RATTLESNAKE AVOIDANCE CLASS CANCELLED

(Limited to 25 dogs for vaccinations. Cost of vaccination is $25.00 ~ Pay Dr. Schulte directly).
If you've done this before you know how effective it is. Time to see if Fido remembers! If your dog has previously been vaccinated, he'll be ready for a booster.

Please RSVP directly to Dr. Schulte at John_Schulte@sbcglobal.net
DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC THE INVITATIONAL HAS BEEN CANCELED!
Please go to the MARC website for updates on future plans!
Marin Retriever Club has the privledge of hosting the first ever Master Amateur Invitational on the West Coast! This prestigious event will start on Sunday April 19th and run until finished, but no later than Sunday, April 26th, 2020. We anticipate anywhere from 100-200 dogs and their handlers will descend on Corning, California for about a two week period starting about April 12th, to acclimate their dogs and themselves to our climate. (Many are from the East Coast and will be coming from the snow to our fair state!) These are all AKC Master Hunters that have qualified to run this event.
To put on an event of this magnitude takes an enormous amount of volunteer efforts including preparing the room for the opening ceremonies; preparing the handler bags and registration tables; lunches for judges and staff during setup; posting pre-national training signs, etc....If you would like to help us out and can join us for a day or two during setup, please contact Laura Judd at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you can come watch these wonderful dogs work during the event, you will not be disappointed! I do need a few master level dogs for setup also, so if you haven't qualified but want to join the fun, let me hear from you!
SATURDAY JUNE 27TH - T1 POND DENVERTON CRTA PROPERTY
LET'S PLAY!!! Its been WAY too long!!! Setup between 8-9. Start at 9 am promptly!
As we missed the opportunity to have a rattlesnake avoidance class, booster vaccinations will be offered on a first come first serve basis, first thing in the morning. If your dog needs a booster this is the place to do it! Dr. John Schulte has offered to vaccinate dogs until he runs out of vaccine. The cost for the shot is $20. Please bring cash and pay Dr. Schulte directly.
We'll do some drills and marking tests, to help get Fido focusing on each mark. Its fun and its quick and everyone takes a turn throwing! We'll have to use bumpers for this training day as most of us are out of training birds. It'll be fun to get the dogs out around other dogs and start getting ready for the fall tests that are sure to come! YEA!!!! Afterwards we'll do some fun doggie games!
During lunch break we'll have a quick membership meeting and talk about when and if we should have a fall hunt test.
RSVP to Laura at email@example.com. Please let me know what level your dog(s) are at, and what you'd personally like to work on. If we have enough suggestions, we can break into smaller groups and work on various concepts. PLEASE wear a mask, or have one available if you get within six feet of another handler.
Remember, you do not have to be a CRTA member to participate, but you have to sign in at the kiosk upon entry, and sign a waiver at the gate. The gate will be locked if you come in late, you'll have to phone a CRTA member to come back and open it for you, so please try and be prompt. Open to MRC members only, unless previous arrangements are made with Laura.
ALL COVID-19 SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLS WILL BE FOLLOWED. PLEASE DON'T COME WITHOUT A MASK, GLOVES, AND YOUR PERSONAL HAND SANITIZER. PLEASE DON'T COME IF YOU HAVE A COUGH OR FEVER OR AREN'T FEELING WELL. PARK 6-10 FEET APART AND BE COGNIZANT OF YOUR PROXIMITY TO OTHERS.
Start time - 9 am, (please come earlier and be ready at 9 to start.) We'll use bumpers and hand throws for marks. We'll setup about 4-6 land/water marks and folks can run them however they like based on their dogs level of training.
There is no cost for this training day for use of the CRTA grounds, however you need to sign a release of liability waiver once a year, and sign into the guest book every time.
Its possible we might have some live pigeons available, so you might want to bring about $5 per bird to reimburse the purchaser of the birds. Ginners bring your shotguns! Bring your lunch and plenty of fresh water for both yourself and your dog(s).
RSVP to Laura @ firstname.lastname@example.org
A few pictures from last month~
If you can't make it the next training day/playday will be SUNDAY AUGUST 16.
TRAINING DAY AT GRUPE'S
At our training day in July, participants were queried about the possibility of hosting a training at Grupes ranch in Lodi. About 12 members expressed interest so the event was coordinated by Terri Gale and John Santin.
The class is now full with about 14 more advanced Senior/Master dogs and their handlers involved. If this works out, we hope to schedule more training days there in the future!
TRAINING DAY/ PLAYDAY AT GRIZZLY RANCH
SUNDAY AUGUST 16TH, 2020
From Highway 12 turn South at Grizzly Island Road (at the Jack in the box in Suisun City) Drive about 11 miles (twisty turny) until you see a very long white fence - thats Grizzly Ranch. Turn right past the fence onto Van Sickle Road, then right again onto the ranch. As you drive down the driveway, you'll see the entrance to our field and ponds on the right.
As Saturdays group was focused on the more advanced dogs, lets plan this day to focus on what you need to be able to do to pass a Junior test, or be working towards Senior. We'll try and invite a guest pro, but if not, we'll setup and run several land/land water and water singles. We'll practice our obedience getting to the line and sitting quietly in holding blinds.
Start time 9ish. RSVP to Laura at email@example.com
More details to follow.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 21st - approximately 9 am start (WEATHER PERMITTING!)~ Please come by about 8:30 to help set up, or stay later to help clean up.
Because of Covid-19, the MRC Board has decided to cancel our annual Christmas get-together. In lieu of that, what we CAN do is have a playday/games day with our dogs - outdoors, following all social distancing protocols! We have several really fun games lined up that will be timed, (such as find the bird in a huge decoy spread, or a bumper toss, and so on...) We've done these games before and they're a lot of fun! This will be a BLAST - don't miss it! We'll have prizes too! Different classes for all levels. Puppies encouraged if they've had their vaccinations!
Let's get together one more time before the end of the year and have some fun! (Of course we're outdoors with plenty of social distancing!)
The Denverton Road property is at 3836 Denverton Road. We will be at the T7 this time. When you come in you must sign in at the front kiosk as a guest of MRC if you are not a member of CRTA. (We'll have someone at the gate to help you, but please be on time!) After you sign in drive straight down the main gravel road to the first main intersection. Look straight ahead and all the cars will be parked right there. Please bring appropriate clothing in case the weather is bad. (If its driving rain we might cancel, but otherwise we will play!) During the pizza lunch~ meeting break we will talk about our RECENT Fall Hunt test, elections, our new equipment trailer, etc...
Please make plans to attend!
Please RSVP to Laura at Tinstarlabs@comcast.net
